Laurel Health 50th Anniversary Retrospective & New Year Holiday Schedule

By Kristy Warren

Laurel Health wishes you and yours a happy, healthy new year! As we welcome 2024, all Laurel Health locations will be closed on New Year's Day (January 1, 2024) and will re-open for regular business hours the following day. This includes our seven Laurel Health Centers, four Laurel Dental offices, Laurel Behavioral Health, Laurel Pediatrics, the Laurel Health & Wellness Center in Mansfield, Laurel Health Administration, and our walk-in care program

If you need scheduling assistance over the holidays, our nurse triage team is available to help with appointments and answer non-urgent health questions. To reach us over the holidays, call 1-844-284-6589 or click here for a full list of Laurel Health office locations and contact information.

As we celebrate 50 years of building healthier communities, we're reflecting with gratitude on what our hardworking team has accomplished this year to better serve our patients, including:

  • Launching of our new dental office Laurel Dental – Troy, which is accepting new patients of all ages. Appointments are available right now at 570-297-3746.

  • Being awarded state and county commendations recognizing our 50 years of dedicated service by the offices of Senator Gene Yaw and PA State Rep. Clint Owlett.

  • Introducing our new walk-in care service at our health centers in Mansfield, Wellsboro, and Troy, PA. This service provides weekday same-day access for conditions that need to be seen promptly but don't require emergency care like strep throat, UTIs, sinus infections, flu, COVID-19, and minor cuts, rashes, and burns.

  • Earning national recognition from HRSA for Laurel Health's dedication to best practices and preventive population health measures, including enhancing access, reducing healthcare disparities, and maintaining our Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) designation.

  • Long-time Laurel board member J. Dennis Murray, PhD, winning the 2023 Board Excellence and Service Apex Award for outstanding board service, awarded to a single board member in the state by the Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers (PACHC)

  • Celebrating our 50th anniversary with a series of fun, engaging employee events and community outreach events to deliver important wellness information and health screenings like flu shots and blood pressure checks.

It's been a busy year for Laurel Health, but we're already looking forward to the exciting projects we have lined up in 2024! In January, we'll be holding a special gala to celebrate milestone years of service for our employees. We will also continue our drive to expand access to services and reduce barriers to care throughout the year by piloting a mobile dental program and establishing a primary care center in Towanda, PA.

Our mobile dental program will bring dental services directly to community hubs to patients who cannot easily travel to our dental offices or who might otherwise have to skip dental wellness screenings due to their work / school schedules or financial burden. Our goal is bring public health hygienists to the populations most in need of affordable dental services.

We also plan to renovate a property in Towanda, PA to open the Towanda Laurel Health Center. Designs are being finalized for construction bids, and our recruiter is actively hiring providers with the goal of providing primary care services there by late 2024. Stay tuned to Laurel Health's news section and our official Facebook page for the latest updates on these projects and more.

Thank you for trusting us with your care, and here's to a great new year!
