Laurel Health Now Provides X-Rays
at Sullivan County LHC
By Kristy Warren
Laurel Health is excited to announce that it is now providing diagnostic x-ray services at the Sullivan County Laurel Health Center, located at 217 King Street in Laporte, PA. X-rays can be used to check bone alignment and soft tissue to diagnose injuries, infections, or foreign objects lodged in the body.
The Sullivan County Laurel Health Center now provides:
- Diagnostic imaging for potential dislocations, infections, or bone fractures
- Comprehensive dental imaging, including bitewings and panoramic x-rays
- Onsite mammography days, offered through a partnership with Geisinger’s mobile mammography unit
Standard x-rays, also known as routine or diagnostic x-rays, are used to give healthcare providers an internal snapshot of a specific area of the body (e.g., neck, chest, back, joints, limbs, jaw, or pelvis). These images can help the provider evaluate a patient’s health by pinpointing the source of a symptom, diagnosing a specific problem, or determining the severity of a condition like whether an ankle is fractured or just badly sprained.

The x-ray is conducted by a radiologic technologist. Once the x-ray is completed and processed, the digital film is then reviewed by a radiologist, a specialist who is trained to read and interpret x-rays. Results are sent to the patient’s primary healthcare provider for additional review, and the Sullivan LHC office will then reach out to the patient with the interpreted results and next steps.
Imaging services are available on weekdays at Laurel Health’s Sullivan clinic. Family medicine x-rays are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 am - 4:30 pm. Dental x-rays are available Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
“Our team has been working diligently to bring x-ray services back to Sullivan County, and we’re excited to begin seeing patients for imaging services right here in Laporte,” shares Samantha Ordiway, Laurel Health’s Chief Operating Officer.
These services are made possible in part by a grant from the Geisinger Health Foundation, which has collaborated with Laurel Health to improve access to x-ray services locally in Sullivan County, PA.
X-rays are currently being scheduled in Laporte for established Laurel Health and Laurel Dental patients; the office will also begin accepting x-ray referrals from external organizations soon.
